South Huron Council Looking for New Councillor for Ward 2

By Bob Montgomery

South Huron Council considered two options for replacing Marc Denomme who recently retired as the councillor for Ward 2.

South Huron Mayor George Finch says they had a choice between appointing a replacement from the public or holding a by-election. Finch says there is a significant cost involved in holding a by-election and it takes some time. So council decided to go with the appointment from the public. Finch says that could include someone who had run in a previous election or anyone else who qualifies. Finch says now they'll wait to see who steps forward to fill the vacant seat. There are still approximately three years left in the term.
