Hanging Mitts and Hats on Light Posts

Don't be surprised if you see hats and mitts hanging in plastic bags on light posts around the Square in Goderich this winter.

Goderich council has approved a request that volunteers be allowed to put the hats and gloves in plastic bags and hang them on the light posts for whoever needs them. Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet says it's been happening for three or four years now and it provides people who might not have the means to get some of the clothes they need to help themselves to whatever appeals to them. Bazinet says it's a volunteer group that does it and it’s just a great gesture.

Bazinet says the letter that came to Goderich council just identified the sender as a member of a group that makes hats and mitts so he doesn't know the name of the group. He just knows the hats and mitts disappear every year.
