Goderich Announces New Deputy Mayor

Goderich council has appointed a new Deputy Mayor.

The position became vacant when for Deputy Mayor Trevor Bazinet was named Mayor following the passing of past Mayor Myles Murdock.

Bazinet says council had a good discussion in closed session at Monday's meeting and unanimously appointed councillor Leah Noel as the new Deputy Mayor. Bazinet adds, Noel will also sit at county council as the Deputy Mayor of Goderich. Bazinet says Noel's seat at council will be declared vacant at the next council meeting on the 16th of October and at that point choose one of three options to fill the vacant seat on council. Bazinet says they could hold a by-election, they can go through an application process or they can appoint from the public.
