Christmas in Bayfield

by Bob Montgomery

The Bayfield and Area Chamber of Commerce is kicking off Christmas in Bayfield this weekend.

Chamber Marketing Manager Wendy Vasco says this is the 32nd annual Christmas in Bayfield and she says for anyone looking for the quintessential Hallmark Christmas experience, Clan Gregor Square is the place to be this Friday night.

Vasco says the Lighting of the Lights will take place at seven o'clock and that will be followed with a visit from Santa and the Santa Claus Parade will start at eleven o'clock Saturday morning. Vasco says following the parade guests are invited to explore Bayfield's charming boutique shops and they'll be offering sales or special promotions, many of them tax free. Visitors can warm up by the inviting fire pits and enjoy a variety of foods and beverages as well as free rides in a horse drawn carriage, live entertainment and a special opportunity for children to meet Santa at 12:30 in front of the library. And the Christmas in Bayfield weekend continues on Sunday.

Vasco says they wouldn't be able to do it without their amazing team of volunteers and shop owners and she says this year is particularly special because the main street revitalization has been completed and it looks as good as everyone had hoped it would. She says they've received a lot of comments on how they've managed to make it look new and improved and still maintain the heritage charm. She says they've also had a lot of good comments from people with mobility issues.

Vasco says there is more information and a schedule of events on the Village web site at www.villageofbayfield.com
