Village Of Bayfield Hosting Unique Art Show On The Main Street Next Sunday
by Bob Montgomery
The Main Street in Bayfield will be closed next Sunday afternoon.
But there won't be any construction involved. It will be Bayfield's first Main Street Arts Festival. Bayfield Ward Councillor Bill Whetstone says it's modelled after a similar, but much larger event that has been very successful in Hamilton. “Main Street's going to be blocked off from two until six and there'll be some street performers, obviously the art galleries will be open. You'll be able to purchase a beverage and sit on picnic tables on Main Street and listen to some music.” Whetstone adds it's a bit of a stepping stone to see what works and what they'd want to add if they decided to make it a bigger event going forward. One of their objectives is to increase traffic on the Main Street during the shoulder season.
The street performers will include local bands, Jellybean Blue and the Maitland Holler, who will bring a vibrant energy with a little rock, a little pop, a little country and a little bluegrass too.
The Main Street Arts Festival is created by the County of Huron and Huron Arts and Heritage Network and is funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
