United Way Perth Huron will kick off their 2023 campaign for Goderich and Area this Saturday night
by Bob Montgomery
United Way Manager of Community Development Michelle Millar says their area covers Goderich, A-C-W, Central Huron and Huron East.
Millar says they'll announced their campaign goal on Saturday night and talk about the work they've been able to do in past campaigns, the partners they support who do the work in the community and what they hope to do going forward.
Millar says they have a working group now that's looking at bringing a Connection Centre to Goderich. She says there's a Connection Centre in South Huron that's been there for about three years and one in Wingham will be officially opened next Friday. Millar says the Connection Centre does exactly what the name implies, it connects people to the services they need and the connections can be made all under one roof. She says that means they can develop relationships with the people that can help them when they're ready, they don't have to book appointments for two or three weeks away, they don't have to repeat their stories to several different people and they don't need transportation to another part of the county because everything is there under one roof. Millar says the connections in the south and the north end of the county are working well and they expect it will in Goderich as well.
Saturday night's event is being held at the Memorial Arena on McDonald Street in Goderich. And will feature live music with three local bands: Homers, Blacklist Social, and the Full Nelsons. More information about the event can be found on the United Way Perth Huron web site.
