New Planning Application software will speed up planning process in Huron County
by Bob Montgomery
Huron County council has approved entering into a contract with Cloudpermit for the Cloudpermit Planning Module for use by the County and all nine local municipalities for three years.
South Huron has been using the Cloudpermit software and provided a demonstration to County and local municipal staff that are involved with processing planning applications. Huron County Planning Director Sandra Weber says the system will bring planning applications and processes online for applicants, staff and agencies and the intent is to allow applicants and developers to used the system to make it easier to communicate online. She says they'll be able to submit documents and follow their development application from start to finish. Weber adds, for people who can't use the system online, a paper option will be available but the online option should speed up the process and make it more efficient.
Weber says the goal is to help planning applicants get through the application as quickly as possible so they can complete the construction as soon as possible. Weber says the project is a coordinated effort between the county and all of its nine municipalities. The cost over the three year period will be a one time set up fee of $12,000 and then an annual license fee of $80,000.
