United Way Perth Huron and Huron County Economic Development Host Discussion on How to Become an Employer of Choice

by Bob Montgomery

United Way Perth Huron and Huron County's Economic Development Department have teamed up to host a round-table discussion on How to Become an Employer of Choice.

United Way's Director of Research and Planning says the Round Table Discussion is designed to help employers in Huron and Perth become an Employer of Choice by learning about decent work practices. Kristin Crane explains the concept of decent work includes things like fair income, benefits, flexibility, stable employment, equity at work and establishing a welcoming work place culture. She says part of the discussion will involve employers sharing some of the things that have been successful for them. Crane says they'll look at successful ways of recruiting and retaining employees so that both the employees and the employers benefit from the work environment as much as possible.

Crane also points out, people that are happy with their work place tend to tell other people about their experience and that helps to attract new employees.

The event takes place on Thursday, January 18th from 8:30 until 10:00am at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch on Main Street in Seaforth. To register for free employers can contact the Huron County Economic Development Department or the United Way Perth Huron Social Research and Planning Council.
