Tractor Parked in Main Street Store in Seaforth is Gone

by Bob Montgomery

The tractor that crashed into the storefront on the main street of Seaforth on October 13th has finally been removed.

Huron East Mayor Bernie MacLellan says crews worked carefully to remove the tractor for most of Friday afternoon and removed the air from the tractor's tires to give it more clearance. It was finally taken away shortly after three o'clock on Friday afternoon.

One of the reasons the tractor was left in the building for so long was concern over the possibility of the building collapsing if the tractor was removed and after it was removed crews were very careful about reinforcing the structure so there wouldn't be any further problems.

That end of the Main Street has been closed since the tractor drove into the storefront. MacLellan says it was finally opened shortly after five o'clock, much to the delight of all of the store owners at that end of the street who were not happy to have it closed this close to Christmas.
