Syfilco Ltd. In Exeter Celebrates It's 45th Birthday This Week
by Bob Montgomery
Syfilco Limited is an industrial knitting company that has now been in business for 45 years and they're celebrating with an open house this Thursday.
Nathan De Boer says in 1979 his grandfather started the business with a couple of knitting machines in a small shop on John Street in Exeter making drainage filter socks. He says they've branched out a little since then, but drainage filter socks are still one of their most popular products. They are also the only company in Canada that produces round hay bail netting.
De Boer says Sylfico Limited is a three-generation family business and they average about 35 employees. He says they take pride in making a quality product and the community has rewarded them for that.
De Boer says on Thursday they'll be hosting an after five event along with the South Huron Chamber of Commerce and the Huron Manufacturing Association and that will be at their facility at 320 Thames Road East in Exeter. More information about their business and this week's celebration can be found on the Syfilco website and they are asking that guests RSVP at office@shcc.on.ca.
