School Boards Choose New Chairs and Vice-Chairs

The Avon Maitland District School Board elected its Chair and Vice-Chair for 2024 at their last meeting.

Trustee Robert Hunking and Trustee Nancy Rothwell were elected by the board as Chair and Vice-chair for 2024. They will commence their 1 year terms at the November 28 regular board meeting.

The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board announced their Chair and Vice-Chair for the 2023-24 term as well. At its Meeting of the Board on Monday, November 20th, Mary Helen Van Loon was re-acclaimed to the position of Chair of the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board.

Ms. Van Loon began her service to the board as a trustee in 2017 and enters her fourth consecutive term as chair of the board. She represents the areas of Perth South, St. Marys, and West Perth and serves the following schools: Holy Name of Mary, St. Marys and St. Patrick’s in Dublin.

Jim McDade was acclaimed to the position of Vice-Chair and began his service to the Board as a Trustee in 2006. He has been in the Chair and Vice-Chair roles several times over the years. He represents the areas of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, North Huron, Howick, Central Huron, Morris-Turnberry, and Goderich and serves Sacred Heart school in Wingham, St. Mary’s in Goderich, St. Joseph’s in Clinton, and St. Anne’s CSS, Clinton​.
