New Plan of Subdivision Approved for Goderich
by Bob Montgomery
A significant subdivision plan has been approved for the south-west corner of Goderich.
Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet says the subdivision will consist of as many as 500 units altogether.
“And that's going to be a mix of single, double and townhouses. It's actually going to be a really nice development where you're going to have a mix in the same neighbourhood which you don't see too often anymore in new development.”
Bazinet says the new subdivision will be in the same area, near the Coast Development, west of highway 21 and will be a mix similar to what's already been built there, but priced a little lower. He says they'll start building near the lake and work towards the highway and it could include a six-story apartment building but that's a few years away. Bazinet adds the plan does include affordable housing.
Bazinet says the everything has been approved and they'd love to see shovels in the ground this spring but things don't always move along as quickly as they would like and they don't have a starting date at this time.
