Christmas Dinner at the Race Track – Why Not?
by Bob Montgomery
If you don't have any plans for Christmas Dinner yet, you might want to consider the Clinton Raceway.
General Manager, Ian Fleming, says they started thinking of this before COVID and decided this was the year to start what they hope will become a tradition. He says lots of people don't have family to spend Christmas dinner with, so they're providing a free Christmas dinner. The good news is it's not actually at the race track. Ian thought it would be a good idea to have everyone sit down for dinner on the race track, but his staff talked him out of that. The dinner will be held on December 25th from noon until two at the Libro Hall by the Clinton arena.
Ian says they've already given out tickets for three hundred people and he figures they can feed close to four hundred. He says they had no trouble finding people to donate the food and volunteers to help prepare it. So you can have a free Christmas dinner with three or four hundred of your closest friends and if they're not when you get there, they will be by the time you leave. In twenty years, when this has become the place to be on Christmas Day, you can tell your teenage kids, yeah, you were there when it started.
Anyone with questions or looking for tickets can call Ian Fleming at 519-482-5270. The tickets are free but they're asking people to get tickets so they'll know how many dinners to cook. The deadline for getting tickets is December 4th.
