Huron Shores Area Transit Providing Connection to Major Ontario Cities

by Bob Montgomery

Huron Shores Area Transit is expanding its service.

Transit Coordinator Susan Mills says they're implementing their first flex bus stop on its Route 2 from Grand Bend to London bus today. She says the flex stop will enable their passengers to connect with Megabus, an inter-city bus service offering bus travel to major cities in southern Ontario and Quebec, such as Toronto, Kingston, Windsor and Montreal. So Mills says someone could take one of their buses and get off at a flex bus stop in London, which they will share with London Transit, and then just a quick walk away, they would catch the Megabus that will take them to their further destination.

Mills says Huron Shores Area Transit is funded through the Community Transportation Grant Program which supports local and inter-community bus service in under-served areas. One of their program’s objectives is to encourage coordination between transit services to enable travel to destinations farther afield. Anyone wanting to take advantage of the Megabus does have to book the service through Huron Shores Area Transit because the Megabus stop is only in use when it is booked ahead of time. She says the bus has to be booked two days in advance.

More information about the routes and how to book them can be found on the Huron Shores and Area Transit website under schedules.
