Huron County Library Launches New Inter-Library Loan Platform
by Bob Montgomery
Huron County's Librarian and Director of Cultural Services says the county will be launching the new inter-library loan platform this coming Tuesday.
Beth Rumble explains inter-library loan is a service that libraries across Ontario provide that allows them to share books between libraries in different locations throughout the province. She points out this is not the program that allows them to share books between library branches within the county. This program allows people to share books across the province.
Rumble says they can't have everything they want in Huron County libraries, but quite often other libraries in the province do have what someone in Huron County might want, and this new service will allow them to access those books. She says they're very grateful to have access to things that aren't available in Huron County but are available somewhere else in the province, and sometimes a library in Huron County might have something someone in another location is looking for, and they're very happy to make that available.
If someone in Huron County can't find what they're looking for in the catalogue they should contact their local branch and staff there can place the request for them. Starting in the new year they'll open the portion of the database that will allow patrons to make their own request.
