Huron County Librarian Presents Draft Budget to the Library Board

by Bob Montgomery

Huron County Librarian Beth Rumble presented a draft budget to the Library Board at this week's meeting.

Rumble says she believes they've achieved a good balance in moving some of the action items from the library's new strategic plan forward, while understanding that there are other financial pressures that they have to acknowledge. She says the increase this year is a little more than last year's increase but still reasonable. She says a 3% cost of living increase to all staff is part of the overall increase. She says there are also a lot of exciting things in this year's budget that they're looking forward to implementing in 2024. One of those is developing their teen spaces and engaging with youth which is a core priority in their strategic plan. Upgrades to the Clinton Library is another project and she says the Clinton Library is the last library in the system to get the upgrade. They're also adding a lot of new technology to their system so they're looking forward to that as well.

Rumble says the draft budget will be presented to county council in the new year.
