Huron County is celebrating Welcoming Week This Month

Huron County Local Immigration Partnership Manager Mark Nonkes says Welcoming Week is an annual campaign that celebrates the efforts of communities striving to be more welcoming places for everyone, including immigrants. Welcoming Week started on September 8th and Huron County is one of the participating municipalities.
Huron County Warden Glen McNeil says Huron County wants to enable of its new residents to enjoy everything that Huron has to offer as we continue to thrive and support each other. Welcoming Week started in Huron County on September 11th with a Welcome Night at the Seaforth Library. A second one will be held at the Goderich Library from 6:30 till 7:30 tonight. Another one will be held from 7:00 till 8:00 Thursday night at the Brussels Library. An Introduction to African drumming workshop will be held at the Exeter BIA Farmer’s Market on Friday, September 15th from 5:00 till 6:30 and a Welcome Booth will be set up at Clinton's Harvest Festival on September 16, from eleven till four.
Huron County’s Cultural Services and the Huron County Immigration Partnership are also working with both newcomers to Canada and long-time residents on a community arts-based cookbook project called Tastes Like Home. Art workshops related to the project will be hosted during Welcoming Week. Welcoming Week is hosted by the Huron County Immigration Partnership with support from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and wraps up on September 17th.
