Huron County has Emerged as a Leader in Embracing Accessibility

by Bob Montgomery

Accessibility, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist Oonagh Vaucrosson is one of the newest members of Huron County's Accessibility Advisory Committee.

She's been pleasantly surprised to learn that Huron County's Accessibility Advisory Committee is being recognized as a leader in the province for some of its accessibility initiatives. Vaucrosson says the members of the committee don't tend to think of themselves as leaders until they're working with other groups and discover that Huron County has already done what a number of other counties are considering. She says those other groups are turning to Huron County’s committee for advice because they can help them avoid some the mistakes that Huron County has made.

Vaucrosson says members of the Huron Accessibility Advisory Committee don't see themselves as leaders as much as just a dedicated committee trying to stay ahead of what the base standard is and being in a position to help other committees. She adds, the members of the Huron County Accessibility Advisory Committee work tirelessly so that everyone can enjoy everything that Huron County has to offer.
