Huron Clean Water Project is accepting funding applications

by Bob Montgomery

The Huron Clean Water Project is now accepting applications for a total of five hundred thousand dollars for water quality projects by Huron County residents, landowners and community groups.

Huron County Warden Glen McNeil says now is an excellent time to apply for funding from the Huron Clean Water Project. He says this time of year is ideal to prepare for a spring tree planting project, submit an over-wintered cover crop incentive application, plan a wetland restoration project, or there’s still time to plant some fall trees. Limited funding assistance can cover up to fifty per cent of the cost of eligible projects and County of Huron funding can be combined with other sources such as the Canada-Ontario Environmental Farm Plan cost-share program, Canada Nature
Fund, and Forests Ontario tree planting subsidy programs.

Investing and participating in on-the-ground water quality improvement projects contributes to a healthy environment and will provide lasting benefits for the residents of Huron County and generations to follow. The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority and the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority deliver the program on behalf of the County. To apply for funding, or to obtain further information, call Maitland Valley Conservation Authority at 519-335-3557, extension 236 or Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority at 519-235-2610, extension 227 or 1-888-286-2610.
