Goderich Boardwalk To Be Named John C. Grace Boardwalk

by Bob Montgomery

Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet says the Goderich Boardwalk is going to be named the John C. Grace Boardwalk after past Mayor John Grace who drowned in a boating accident last year.

Bazinet says they received some input from the community and a task force was formed to look into the requests from the community and they made the decision to name the boardwalk the John C. Grace Boardwalk.

Bazinet says three plaques will also be installed along the boardwalk.  He says there will be one at either end and one in the middle, behind the water treatment plant area.  Bazinet notes, there is a memorial for John Grace's father in that area as well.   Bazinet says he believes naming the boardwalk after John Grace was the right decision because John was involved in the boardwalk and worked very hard on the part of the boardwalk behind the water treatment plant to make that space something special.  Bazinet says the plaques should be installed by next spring.
