by Bob Montgomery

The Four County Labour Market Planning Board And Workforce Planning Board Of Waterloo, Wellinton, Dufferin have collaborated on a project to help employers hire and retain apprentices .

Four County Labour Market Planning Board Executive Director Dana Soucie says on November 5th, with the Workforce Planning Board Of Waterloo, Wellinton, Dufferin, they are hosting an event called Hire and Keep Apprentices. They will be bringing in an expert guest from Literacy Link South Central and they will be presenting to employers the resources and support available to them through the Literacy Link across Ontario.

Soucie says the goal will be to help employers who are considering hiring or already have apprentices, but might have faced some challenges in either attracting apprentices or keeping them. They will connect the employers who attend the event with their local Literacy group and they want to hear about challenges some of those employers are dealing with.

Soucie says the event is a breakfast meeting, it runs from 8:15am until 10:00am on November 5th in Listowel. It is a free event but registration is required. You can register by calling Dana Soucie at 519-881-2725 or email her at executivedirector@planningboard.ca.
