Eco Exeter Environmental Group Looking For Vendors To Help Them With Community Market

by Bob Montgomery

The Eco Exeter Environmental Team is hosting a Community Market at the end of November so they're looking for vendors to take part in the market.

Eco Exeter founder and teacher at the South Huron District High School, Amanda Keller, says they're looking for vendors who sell locally-produced items or locally-made items or any eco-friendly vendors or businesses. She says they'll be set up in the big gym at the South Huron District High School so there won't be any charge for the vendors or for the people coming to the market. So far they have a wide variety of vendors, including people selling eco-friendly cleaning products, people who make their own bags, a stained glass artist and the food class at the school is going to sell baked goods. Some of the Grade 9 students are also planning to set up a wrapping station for people who are buying gifts for Christmas. They'll be able to wrap their gifts in craft paper and twine and can decorate it with pine cones and things like that.

Keller says they did some tree planting recently with the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority and they planted over 500 trees, but the market is their first event at the school this semester. They have about twenty students on the Eco Exeter Team at this point ranging from Grade 9 to Grade 12 students and Keller says that's due in large part to the influx of Grade 9 students filling the void left by the number of grade twelve students that graduated last year.

Keller says it's a very energetic group, some of them have even suggested they meet twice a week instead of just once because they have so much they want to say.
