Driver Arrested For Impaired Driving Charged With Multiple Offences

Huron County Ontario Provincial Police have charged a London, Ontario resident with several criminal offences following a series of traffic complaints and a fail-to-remain collision on Saturday, July 20th, 2024.

Police were notified of a collision in the Village of Grand Bend, Municipality of Lambton Shores, at approximately noon on July 20th, 2024. One of the involved vehicles failed to remain at the scene of the collision and was last observed travelling northbound from Grand Bend into Huron County. Huron County OPP officers patrolled the area and further received several traffic complaints involving the same vehicle. Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle on Bluewater Highway in South Huron and conducted a traffic stop. 

The driver showed obvious signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. Officers transported the accused to the Middlesex OPP detachment in Lucan for breath tests before an OPP qualified breath technician which resulted in breath samples exceeding three times the legal limit.

Sean WHEELER, 28 years of age from London has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while Impaired - alcohol and drugs

  • Operation while Impaired - Over 80

  • Dangerous Operation

  • Failure to Stop After Accident

The accused was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act with: 

  • Driving While Under Suspension

  • Novice Driver - B.A.C. Above Zero

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused driver's license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released. The accused has a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich on August 19th, 2024.
