Courthouse Square Packed for Remembrance Day

by Bob Montgomery

Goderich and area residents packed the Courthouse Square under unusually sunny skies for Saturday's Remembrance Day ceremony.

And the four-plane fly-by just added to a very special Day. Goderich Legion Branch 109 President Randy Carroll says the wars that are currently being fought in Ukraine and in Gaza make this year's Remembrance Day just a little more meaningful. Carroll says they hosted their church service at St. George's Anglican Church last Sunday and they hosted a service at Goderich Place earlier this week and another one on Thursday at Harbour Hills in Goderich and he says what's going on in Ukraine and in Gaza is on everyone's mind. He says given everything that's happening and the conflict in the world today, this Remembrance Day Ceremony will be just a little more meaningful for everyone that participated in it.

Carroll says as far as the fly-by is concerned there hadn't been any discussion about the weather and as it turned out it wasn't necessary, the weather couldn't have been better.
