County of Huron Thanks Public Works Team During National Public Works Week

by Bob Montgomery

The County of Huron expresses its gratitude to the dedicated individuals of the public works department during National Public Works Week.

National Public Works Week is an annual event that runs this year from May 19th until May 28th and provides an opportunity to educate and inform the community about the essential role that public works plays in the daily lives of Huron County residents.

The public works team includes supervisory and administrative staff, engineers, technologists, construction and maintenance specialists and they work tirelessly year-round to ensure the community remains open for business.

Huron County Warden, Glen McNeil acknowledges the exceptional efforts of the public works team stating, "Huron’s public works team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the well-being of our community."

Aligned with the 2024 National Public Works Week theme of "Advancing Quality of Life for All," the Huron County public works department manages a significant transportation infrastructure that includes overseeing 775 km of paved roads and associated storm sewers, 98 bridges, and 374 culvert structures. In addition to their infrastructure responsibilities, the public works team actively engages in community projects. They contribute to the improvement of county forest tracts, collaborate with community service groups, and even assist in active transportation initiatives. Their efforts are instrumental in maintaining the well-being and prosperity of the community.
