Combined COVID-19 / Influenza A Outbreak at Stratford General Hospital is Over

A combined outbreak of COVID-19 and Influenza A at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance - Stratford General Hospital has been declared over by Huron Perth Public Health.

The outbreak had been declared on the Medicine Unit on January 15, 2024. Upon declaring the outbreak, immediate precautions were implemented, including prevalence testing for patients. The Medicine Unit has been reopened to admissions and transfers. Family and Caregiver Presence on the unit has also been restored. Quality Patient Safety & Infection Control Manager Erica Jensen says while this outbreak is over they can't stress enough the importance of layering up your protection to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses that are circulating in Huron Perth. They advise people to keep up-to-date with their flu and COVID-19 vaccines, wash their hands often, stay home if they are feeling sick and wear a mask when required or needed.
