Changing of the Guard at Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority

by Bob Montgomery

The current General Manager of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority says he'll be stepping away from that position effective Monday, February 12th.

Brian Horner says former Water Resources Coordinator Davin Heinbuck will be the new General Manager and Secretary-Treasurer, effective Monday. Marissa Vaughan is the Chair of the ABCA Board of Directors and says they're very pleased to announce their new General Manager and Secretary-Treasurer. “Davin has the technical skills and watershed management knowledge required for this position and he has the team-building and organizational skills needed to lead us confidently into the future.” She says Heinbuck has more than 20 years of experience in conservation and watershed management. Locally, he has worked closely with municipal representatives and staff and community partners in his previous role as Water Resources Coordinator.

Outgoing GM Brian Horner will remain at ABCA to assist in the transition to the new General Manager and he will return to his former role as Financial Services Supervisor. Horner says he'll be there to help if he's needed, and adds, this type of transition has worked well in other departments and he's looking forward to stepping back a little, but still being there.

Vaughan adds “The ABCA is highly regarded in the community and much of this is due to his fine leadership.”
