Central Huron Turns Down Offer to Share Economic Development Officer

by Bob Montgomery

Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn says his municipality has declined an invitation from North Huron to share an Economic Development Officer.

Ginn explains Central Huron doesn't have the need for an Economic Developer at this time. “We do have a Community Improvement Coordinator that handles business attraction and retention and the attraction side of it we leave with the county's Economic Development Department, so our needs are being met for now.”

Ginn says the bigger economic development projects, like plans of subdivisions and that sort of thing are looked after by county staff and anything else, like the development at the former Bluewater Centre, falls in the lap of their CAO and that seems to be working well at this point so they don't feel the need to make any changes.
