Bayfield Area Food Bank Urgently Seeking New Location

by Bob Montgomery

The Bayfield Area Food Bank continues its urgent search for a new temporary or permanent location.

Food Bank President Claire Trepanier, says they have to vacate their current home in the Bayfield Lions Club building by April 4th because that building is being sold to two doctors from Seaforth who plan to convert the building into a clinic.

There has been a lot of discussion about potential locations for the Food Bank. But so far they have not been able to find a location that meets their operational needs. Trepanier says they appreciate the Municipality’s review of the options they've provided, as well as the list of locations they had already investigated and found unsuitable, whether due to size, inaccessibility, or unavailability. In the meantime, they continue to explore other possibilities and keep councillor Bill Whetstone informed of their progress.

Requirements for a New Location:

  • Capacity to accommodate shelving and refrigeration units

  • Suitability for the Food Bank’s distribution schedule

  • Availability for a temporary solution lease of up to six months

The Food Bank is calling on the community for assistance in identifying a viable location. Anyone with suggestions or leads is encouraged to contact bayfieldareafoodbank@gmail.com
