Avon Maitland District School Board Is Looking From Local Residents To Apply For Trustee Vacancy

by Bob Montgomery

The Avon Maitland District School Board has announced a vacancy among their trustees.

In order to fill the seat an application/interview process is being released and members of the public are invited to apply. According to the Director of Education Graham Shantz, “Our trustees play a vital role in overseeing the focus in our education system as related to our Strategic Plan. They are individuals who are passionate about public education and they advocate for student achievement and well-being.”

There are nine trustees for the Avon Maitland Board, representing a geographical portion of the district and the schools within.

Perth East is the area with a vacancy but the successful candidate needs only to live within Huron or Perth counties and not Perth East specifically. Chair of the Board, Robert Hunking said, “We encourage anyone interested in this position to learn more about the role and to submit an application before the October 17 deadline.”

For more information about the role of the trustee and how to submit an application for the current vacancy, please review the details at this page on the AMDSB website.
