Avon Maitland District School Board Helps Families Prepare For Back To School

by Bob Montgomery

It's hard to believe it's that time of year again, but it's here, and schools in the Avon Maitland District School Board are busy preparing to welcome students for another exciting year!

The first day for students in grades 1 to 12 will be Wednesday, September 4, as Tuesday is a professional day for staff. Kindergarten students will stagger their first day on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, and that will be organized by each school.

A page on the board’s website has been created to help parents and guardians with the common back to school questions. Director of Education Graham Shantz said: “We know the back to school transition can sometimes be challenging. We want to ensure that our students feel supported and that families have the information they need. Our staff are excited to welcome students beginning Wednesday September 4.”

Any new families are encouraged to register as soon as possible using the online registration system – details including which school a child should attend, bus information and the link to register can be found on the School Registration page.
