The Huron County Museum & Historic Gaol Is Hoping To Fill A Number Of Seasonal Museum Assistant Positions
by Bob Montgomery
Huron County's Museum & Historic Gaol is now accepting applications for a number of seasonal museum assistant positions.
Students will be responsible for providing coverage and customer service at the front desk of both the museum and gaol, including admissions and handling cash. They will also offer historical interpretation and guidance for summer visitors and will work on specific projects related to collections, public programming, marketing or research.
Curator of Engagement and Dialogue Sinead Cox says some of their positions are funded by Young Canada Works so applicants should fit Young Canada Works eligibility. They're primarily looking for university students who would be available from May until September. Past experience is listed in the job posting, but can differ for each of the special projects but she says they are looking for students with a strong interest in local history and possibly studying in a related field. She adds, there is a lot of variety in the things they do at the museum and gaol so there are a lot of different connections that can be made between what they're studying and what they would be required to do at the museum or gaol.
More information about the jobs can be found here. The deadline for applications is February 20th.
