The Goderich Salt And Harvest Festival Is Back To Celebrate The Labour Day For A Second Year

by Bob Montgomery

The Goderich Salt And Harvest Festival is back for the Labour Day Weekend in Goderich.

This is only the second year for the Festival and this year they'll be joined by the West Coast Blues. The Festival runs from August 30th until September 2nd. Tourism and Community Development Manager Jenna Ujiye says they're very excited about this year’s Festival. In their first year, last year, they won the Community Development Award from the Chamber of Commerce and they also won Best New Event Under 100-thousand dollars at the Festival and Events Ontario Awards Gala.

Ujiye says initially their thinking for this year was “lets not change too much because last year worked pretty well.” But then they kept getting more ideas and now they've added quite a few new things, including their collaboration with the West Coast Blues, and they have a fireworks display on the Monday.

Ujiye says there are more than thirty events happening between August 30th and September 2nd . The Dwayne Gretzky concert for Sunday night is just about sold out. More information about the other events can be found on the Goderich Salt and Harvest Festival website.
