Stratford and Area Boundary Review Processing
by Bob Montgomery
Avon Maitland District School Board trustees have approved a boundary review consultation process for the Stratford and area schools.
Superintendent of Corporate Services Cheri Carter says it's something that's been on the Board's radar for the last couple of years as the school population in the area continues to grow. Carter says when they look at all of the schools, the area as a whole is not over-capacity. But she says some schools are seriously over-capacity and there is room for more students at other schools. So she says what they're looking at is how they can balance that enrolment out over the entire area.
Carter says at their last meeting the trustees approved a motion to start the consultation process and that involves reaching out to the communities that are involved and presenting options to them and getting feed back from them on what they would like to see.
Carter says they'll select members for the committee to conduct the review this month and then meetings will start in November. She says they'll present their recommendations to the board in the spring with the hope that the board will make a decision by the end of the school year. Carter also adds, any decisions made by the board will not be implemented before 2025. More information about the review can be found on the Avon Maitland District School Board web site.
