Plans Are Already Underway For Clinton's 150th Homecoming Next Year
by Bob Montgomery
Plans are already well under way for Clinton's 150th Homecoming next summer.
Central Huron councillor Alison Lobb is a member of the committee and she says the biggest part of the celebration will be the first weekend of July. The Kinsmen normally have their Pluckenfest at that time and Lobb says one of the highlights of both events will be a drone light show. She says she believes that will be the first of its kind in Central Huron and the pictures she's seen are very impressive. They also already have a full slate of events on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of that weekend.
Lobbs says they're looking at a number of events specifically for teenagers and one thing that caught their attention at this weekend’s Harvestfest was the axe throwing booth. She says there was a steady line up at that booth all day and it looked like it would be great for teenagers. Lobb says there will be other events throughout the year. The library is running a short story contest related to the 150th.
Lobb adds one thing they're definitely looking for is more volunteers. She says an event like this takes hundreds of volunteers to fill a range of different roles so they're definitely looking for more. She invites anyone interesting in volunteering to call her at 519-525-2229. They'll also have a website up soon that will provide more information on events throughout the year.
