North Perth Boundary Review Committee Ready To Take Their Report To The Public
by Bob Montgomery
Trustees with the Avon Maitland District School gave the Boundary Review committee permission to proceed with the boundary review in North Perth last fall.
Superintendent of Corporate Services Cheri Carter says that's first step in the process. She points out that the population in North Perth has been growing rapidly for a few years now, in large part because of the number of people from Kitchener and Waterloo moving to North Perth. So Carter says they have to look at some kind of boundary review to balance the enrolment in some of their schools. So the committee, which is made up of members from each of the schools that would be effected by the review, has had two meetings and at last week's board meeting the trustees gave them permission to take their report to North Perth communities that would be involved and get their reaction.
Carter says they have an open house scheduled for this coming Thursday, March 6th in the cafeteria of the Listowel High School. And that will give people an opportunity to consider the options and submit any comments or recommendations they may have. Carter says there's a survey that goes along with the report and they're asking people to fill out that survey and then they'll have another committee meeting to look at the results.
The results from the open house as well as the videos of the two earlier committee meetings can be found on the Avon Maitland District School Board website under Boundary Review.
