Namesake Literary Festival Honours The Life And The Work Of Alice Munro

by Bob Montgomery

With the passing of Alice Munro earlier this spring, the Alice Munro Festival is expanding in 2024 to include a live theatre production and a film screening in addition to the author events, including readings and masterclasses. Highlights include:

  • a stage production entitled Post Alice, which blends local history and literature, will be performed at the Blyth Festival’s Harvest Stage on June 5, 6 and 8. From Friday, June 7 through Sunday June 9, the Festival will host workshops by award-winning and bestselling authors.

  • On Friday, June 7 the Festival will host the Awards Presentation of the 2024 Short Story Contest and the new Digital Art Contest. Following the Awards presentations in Wingham, a film screening of “Lives of Girls and Women” will be held in the Wingham Heritage Town Hall Theatre.

Events will take place in Bayfield, Blyth and Wingham. People can go to this Facebook page for the latest breaking news and find event information and links to tickets at alicemunrofestival.ca.
