Municipality of North Huron Looks At Employee Attraction And Retention As Part Of Their Strategic Plan

by Bob Montgomery

North Huron Reeve Paul Heffer says Employee Attraction and Retention will be part of their updated Strategic Plan.

Heffer says their Human Resources Director is conducting confidential interviews with staff members to find out what they're currently happy with and what improvements they'd like to see. A report will be brought back to council that will identify some of their goals for attraction and retention going forward. After that, council will review the report and then make their recommendations.

Heffer says staff retention is a problem that most municipalities are dealing with and they want to do everything they can to keep the staff they have in what has become a very mobile market in the last few years. The report is expected to come back to council in July.
