Lucknow Kinsmen Donate $100,000 to Wingham Hospital CT Scanner Campaign

by Bob Montgomery

The Lucknow Kinsmen Club has pledged $100,000 to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation’s Caring Together campaign to implement a brand-new CT scanner at the hospital.

Wingham and District Hospital Foundation Executive Director Nicole Duquette says the The Lucknow & District Kinsmen and Lucknow’s Music in the Fields have been longtime supporters of the Wingham and District Foundation. They made a transformational gift towards the major hospital renovation in 2016 and have supported the CKNX Healthcare Heroes Radiothon since 2010. This most recent gift brings their lifetime contribution to the hospital to $390,000. This generosity is made only more impressive when considering that the group also supports several other local hospitals, causes and the MS Society.

Kinsmen Club President Cal McDonagh said that the hospital is important to their members, their families and everyone who attends their events. So they want to see their local hospitals be in a good position for the future.

Duquette says they’re extremely grateful to the Kinsmen Club for the huge amount of time and effort they put into raising funds that make such a big difference throughout their whole region and the hospital is a better place today because of their generosity. Duquette says because of the generous support from organizations like the Lucknow Kinsmen, they're getting closer to their goal. “We're at about $1.7 million raised towards the $2.5 million goal and we've had great response from all of the many announcements that have been coming out, people really seem to be responding well and generously and positively and I'm very confident that we will reach that goal.”

She adds funds for this significant donation were raised in large part through the continued success of Lucknow’s Music in the Fields. The 2024 event will take place August 22 to 24 with tickets available now at www.musicinthefields.ca. People can learn more about the campaign and how to donate by going to www.wdhfoundation.ca
