Huron-Perth Catholic Students Showcase Talents At District Skills Competition

by Bob Montgomery

The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board is proud to announce the successful completion of this year’s Technological Skills Competition, a district-wide event held on February 26, at the Seaforth Agriplex.

This exciting competition brought together Grade 7 and 8 students from across the Board to compete in mechanical engineering, construction, robotics, and green energy. The event continues to highlight the exceptional talents and technical skills of the students, reinforcing the importance of hands-on learning and problem-solving in STEM fields. By participating, students not only refine their abilities but also gain valuable experience that will prepare them for future careers in skilled trades, engineering, and technology.

A special congratulations goes to the team from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Clinton, who won this year’s construction competition. Their hard work, dedication, and innovative thinking have earned them a place at the Skills Ontario Competition, where they will represent Huron-Perth Catholic DSB and compete against students from across the province.

A special congratulations also goes to the team from Precious Blood Catholic School in Exeter, who won this year’s mechanical engineering competition. Their hard work, dedication, and innovative thinking have earned them a place at the Skills Ontario Competition, where they will also represent Huron-Perth Catholic DSB.

A special congratulations also goes to the team from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Goderich, who won this year’s robotics competition. They too have earned a place at the Skills Ontario Competition, where they will represent Huron-Perth Catholic DSB and compete against students from across the province.

As part of our multi-year strategic plan, Huron-Perth Catholic DSB has committed to hosting this event annually, ensuring continued opportunities for students to develop and showcase their skills. Our goal is to build on our success and have our students place in the top half of the province at Skills Ontario.
