Huron East Applies for SLED Funding to Promote the Municipality's Manufacturing Sector

by Bob Montgomery

Huron East Economic Development Officer Taralyn Cronin says the municipality has applied for funding from the county through their Supporting Local Economic Development, or SLED, program to promote the opportunities in their manufacturing sector.

Cronin says last year they successfully applied for SLED funding for a Trails and Tours Guide and they were able to create the Guide, audio tours and an accompanying Visitors Itinerary.

“This year we're looking at promoting our manufacturing sector and the job opportunities that are available in our manufacturing sector. We do have a large manufacturing industry and there's definitely more focus from the county on promoting the jobs that are here in Huron County.”

Cronin says the county is trying to promote the idea of living and working in Huron County. They're inviting people who live in Huron County but currently commute out of the county to work to consider living and working in Huron County. She says their SLED application will focus on that, and let people know the range of products that are manufactured in Huron County and Huron East, and the job opportunities that exist in Huron East.
