Huron County Well Represented Once Again As Western Ontario Warden’s Caucus Re-elects It’s Members

by Bob Montgomery

The Western Ontario Wardens Caucus recently elected their members that will serve until  January 2025, and Huron County is well represented.

Huron County Warden, Glen McNeil, was re-elected as the Chair of the Western Wardens Caucus, Central Huron Mayor and past Huron County Warden, Jim Ginn, was re-elected Chair of the Economic Development Committee, and Huron County CAO, Meighan Wark, was re-elected to the role of Western Ontario Wardens Caucus Secretary.

The WOWC is a not-for-profit organization representing 15 upper and single tier municipalities in Southwestern Ontario. They advocate on behalf of counties on many issues like infrastructure, transportation, long term care, and economic development, to name a few. The WOWC uses collaboration between the municipalities to establish a greater voice when working with provincial and federal governments on behalf of the citizens. With 15 counties, and over 1.5 million people in the region represented by the WOWC, it’s quite a notable achievement to have so many voices from Huron County among the members.

McNeil says he is deeply honoured to continue serving as Chair of the Western Ontario Wardens Caucus and is sincerely grateful for the continued trust and support from its members. He added, throughout 2024 they will continue to collaborate on expanding housing options, fostering workforce development, and addressing the critical issues surrounding mental health and addiction in Western Ontario.

Economic Development Committee Chair Jim Ginn says he's very pleased to resume his position as Chair of the Economic Development Committee and looks forward to continuing to advance the objectives and participate in the advocacy work of the Western Ontario Wardens Caucus.
