Huron County Conducts Service Delivery Review

by Bob Montgomery

Huron County staff and council conducted the first of three days of it’s Service Delivery Review today (Thursday) at the White Carnation Banquet Hall in Holmesville.

CAO Meighan Wark says this is the first Service Delivery Review since Covid and that was just due to capacity issues. Wark says the review is valuable for a number of reasons and one of them is the opportunity to make county councillors aware of the services the county provides. Wark says, as part of the review, they take a look at mandatory programs as well as discretionary programs provided by the county and she notes there are a lot of mandatory programs but there are also a lot of value-add or discretionary programs offered by the county. Wark says part of their job as a staff is to make sure that council is aware of the difference between mandatory and discretionary programs.

Wark says they also want to make sure county council is comfortable with the level of service being delivered and that the feed back from council confirms they're on the right track in delivering those services. Wark says they'll have two more meetings next week, one on Monday, October the 16th and the last one on Thursday, October the 19th.
