Goderich Council Has Named GSP As The Consultants To Move Forward With Memorial Arena Project

by Bob Montgomery

Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet says GSP Consulting has been chosen to move forward with the Memorial Arena Project.

Bazinet says they will have a three-day public workshop, similar to the one they had with the downtown project and that will take place at the end of March. Right now they’re looking at 3 potential plans: revitalizing the existing building, demolishing the existing building and build a new facility, or demolish the existing building and to nothing with it. Or some people might want the municipality to sell it and let someone else do something with it. He says the whole point of the public workshop is to listen to everyone and get every option on the table.

Bazinet says one thing council wants is a facility that can be used by everyone, not just a few people. He points out, since the building has been closed it hasn't been maintained properly, or promoted properly and council wants to change that and create a vision for the building in the future. And the opportunity to do that starts with the public workshop at the end of March.
