Gateway Centre of Excellence Celebrates Health Care Workers

The Gateway for Excellence in Rural Health hosted their first recognition night for healthcare workers last week.

Gateway President Gwen Devereaux says, as we come out of the pandemic, the timing was right to recognize the people that have worked so hard and been through so much. Devereaux says altogether forty-four healthcare workers were honoured. Devereaux says in some ways the pandemic brought out the best in people, no matter where they worked everyone was helping someone because we needed to help each other.

Devereaux says it was a very difficult time for healthcare workers who worked very long hours and then had to be concerned about what they might be bringing home to their families.   She says being able to take a night to celebrate was very much a feel-good night.
