COVID-19 Outbreak At Stratford General Hospital Is Over

by Bob Montgomery

A COVID-19 outbreak at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance – Stratford General Hospital has been declared over by Huron Perth Public Health.

The outbreak had been declared on the Medicine Unit on October 16th. The Medicine Unit has been reopened to admissions and transfers. Family and caregiver presence on the Unit has also been restored. Full guidelines can be found on their website at https://www.hpha.ca/visiting.

"As respiratory illness season sets in, the need for protection continues even with the outbreak behind us," says Erica Jensen, Manager Quality, Patient Safety & Infection Control. “Keep up to date with vaccinations, practice good hand hygiene, and stay home if you're feeling unwell.”

Masks must be worn by patients, caregivers and staff in any clinical area of our hospitals and it’s recommended, but not required to wear them in non-clinical areas. Medical-grade masks are available at entrances and masking stations throughout the hospital. If you’re feeling unwell or experiencing any symptoms, we strongly recommend postponing your visit until you’ve recovered.

Appreciation is extended to the HPHA team and regional partners. “Thank you for your dedication to safe and compassionate care. We’d also like to extended appreciation to our community for your support of our outbreak measures,” Jensen concludes.
