Central Huron Council Approves Budget

by Bob Montgomery

Central Huron council has ratified this year's budget.

Mayor Jim Ginn says it was the budget that had previously been tentatively approved and reflected an increase of just under 5.2%. Ginn says they started working on the budget back in December so there were no surprise and there wasn't a lot of discussion at Monday night's meeting.

Ginn says they didn't take a significant amount out of reserves. He explains every year they put a bit into reserves and take a bit out. This year they're taking a bit more out than they're putting in but it's not a significant amount. The biggest factor generally is when they purchase new equipment and they usually put money in for a few years ahead of the purchase and take that out when they actually make the purchase but there was nothing that concerned him this year.
