The Avon Maitland District School Board and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario Occasional Teachers are pleased to announce the successful ratification of the tentative agreement that was reached on March 7.
The negotiation process was cooperative and respectful and this helps maintain the shared goal of advancing outcomes for all AMDSB students. “The ratification of this agreement underscores our collective focus on improved student outcomes. Our bargaining team extends genuine gratitude to the staff representatives on the bargaining teams for their steadfast dedication and collaborative spirit.” said Laura Marotta, Superintendent of Human Resource Services.
“Thank you to my team for their hard work and dedication to representing the needs of all members and to the Board for negotiating with purpose and reaching a deal in a timely manner. The Collective Bargaining Team is pleased the Board recognized the importance of ongoing, professional learning for Occasional Teachers and the integral part this plays in curriculum delivery and student achievement.” said Kim Finlayson, President, ETFO.
Staff are pivotal to the success of AMDSB and the occasional teachers are an invaluable part of their team. This agreement completes the local portion of the two-pronged contract talks, as per the School Board Collective Bargaining Act. The central portion of the agreement is currently in the provincial arbitration process.
