Art Unplugged: Create, Connect, Chill - New Program For Young People At The Huron County Museum
By Bob Montgomery
Art Unplugged: Create, Connect, and Chill is a new Thursday night program at the Huron County Museum for young people, in grade five and up.
Huron County Cultural Services Marketing and Branding Coordinator Amy Zoethout says they're looking for young people who want to hang out with friends and make cool art while they're doing it. Art Unplugged offers a chill space to experiment with different materials and techniques, meet new people, and enjoy some snacks. She says each session will focus on a different art piece and technique that they'll learn about as they put it together.
Zoethout says the first sessions run every second Thursday, starting with the first one on March 6th. That one is about Pastel Cardboard Masks and the artists will create unique masks using pastels and cardboard while exploring colour, texture and meaning inspired by black artists. The next one, on March 20th involves Pictographic Painting, telling stories through colours inspired by indigenous artists. the April 3rd session is about String Art, which was inspired by the Museum's founder, Mr. Neil. And the final one, on April 17th is Collaborative Mural, which involves all of the artists working together on their mural.
The artists can register for any or all of the sessions. Each session costs $5 and includes all supplies and snacks. More information and registration forms can be found on the Huron County Museum website under events.
